Radford Wines
From the artistic sweep of century-old gum trees to the red Bedford farm truck in the tin shed, there’s a picture-postcard perfection to the Radford’s Eden Valley paradise. Not that style wins over substance when it comes to Gill and Ben Radford. While a sense of elegance seems to come easily to this high-achieving couple, their values are old-school – they believe in doing the right thing because that’s what one should do.
The story of Radford Wines began 11 years ago when Gill, a highly respected chef who now works closely with Maggie Beer,
and Ben, now the chief winemaker at Rockford, met in South Africa. After moving back to the Barossa region and finding their Eden Valley home, the couple have focused on creating a sustainable, bio-dynamic approach to their vineyards and property.
Since their first vintage in 2003, Gill and Ben have produced much-lauded Rieslings from almost 80-year-old vines and wonderfully elegant Shiraz. These hand-made wines reflect the Radford’s strong commitment to "textural & flavourful" wines – and stand as testimony to the beauty of their surroundings. - John Lehmann
