Glen Eldon Wines
Glen Eldon is a family owned and operated winery, established by Richard and Mary Sheedy in 1997 and committed to making small quantities of wonderfully distinctive premium wines.
Richard served his time in the industry before launching his own label, honing both his winemaking and sales skills as winemaker and general manager for Elderton Wines. Prior to that, he worked at St Hallett Wines.
While Glen Eldon's main vineyard and cellar is located in Eden Valley, Richard and Mary draw fruit from vineyards across the valley floor and throughout the ranges, including properties in Mt McKenzie and Springton. Each vineyard offers distinctive sub-regional characters, having been selected for their individual microclimate and distinctive flavor attributes.
"Our winemaking philosophy is to highlight the regional characters to their greatest," Richard says.
"We utilise modern winemaking knowledge for quality control; however, continue to ferment our reds in traditional open fermenters with heading down boards and pump over regularly for full flavour and colour extraction." - Darren Naylor
