Allan Scott Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Allan Scott Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Bottle: $20.00   $17.99 | Dozen: $194.29 | Size750ml | RegionMarlborough, NZ
I was fortunate enough to taste this on release with none other than Josh Scott, son of Allan Scott, recently, and all present commented on how well the wine showed.
Packaged in a brand new, reseal able closure, this lively vintage sparkling will have bubble heads zinging in 2010!
Made entirely from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the wine exhibits lashings of freshly squeezed limes, interrupted momentarily by a mix of freshly cut grass and breakfast passion fruit.
The wine is clean and fragrant, fresh on the palate, and alive with the varietal acid that you would expect. The bead is fine, and persistent, and adds an extra element of texture to Marlborough Sauv Blanc.
A lighter style sparkling wine, that balances fruit sweetness and acid freshness. -DD

Allan Scott Marlborough Blanc de Blancs NV

Allan Scott Marlborough Blanc de Blancs NV
Bottle: $32.00   $28.99 | Dozen: $313.09 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content12% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
They say that only the French can make Champagne, and they are right. This wine however creates its own benchmark in the world of sparkling wines. It is endlessly appealing with incredible old world characters that create layers and layers of flavour and length. Complex, refined, varietal, savoury and perfectly balanced, this sparkling has it all. On top of all that it has the intensity to cellar beautifully. - SG

Allan Scott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Bottle: $23.00   $20.99 | Dozen: $226.69 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content12.5% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
I was drawn into an interesting discussion with my tasting companion over this wine. Whilst there is little doubt that Marlborough produces an indentifiable style of Sauvignon Blanc, the wines made from the region are far from homogenous. Allan Scott have produced a Marlborough Savy that is more restrained and one which exhibits a few twists on the standard aromatics one associates with the area. -JP

Allan Scott Millstone Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Allan Scott Millstone Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Bottle: $25.00   $22.99 | Dozen: $248.29 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content13.2% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
Allan Scott’s youngest daughter, winemaker Sara, has thrown everything at this wine, it is complex beyond anyone’s estimates and maintains the freshness that we all love from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit comes exclusively from the Scott’s Millstone vineyard which was converted to organic after the harvest of 2007. Usual sprays are replaced in this vineyard with alternatives including compost teas and other homeopathic preparations. The resulting wine is a real treat. - SG

Allan Scott Moorlands Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Allan Scott Moorlands Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Bottle: $30.00   $26.99 | Dozen: $291.49 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content12.5% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
New Zealand is known for fresh and young styles of Sauvignon Blanc, but this wine takes the variety to an entirely new level, with tight integrated oak and texture that will happily see it mature for years to come. Flinty minerality, candied peel and peaches dominate the nose followed by asparagus and lemon across the palate. - SG

Allan Scott Marlborough Riesling 2007

Allan Scott Marlborough Riesling 2007
Bottle: $23.00   $20.99 | Dozen: $226.69 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content12.5% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
Crafted from the oldest Riesling vines in New Zealand, this shows some of the intensity we see from very young tropical Rieslings and a touch of the toasted honey that usually comes with a little bottle age. It is perfectly suited to toasted brioche with truffled honey, caramelised lime rind and hard sheep's milk cheese. - SG

Allan Scott Moorlands Riesling 2008

Allan Scott Moorlands Riesling 2008
Bottle: $30.00   $26.99 | Dozen: $291.49 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content13% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
Purity is the essence of good Riesling and the 2008 Moorlands has it in spades. Having said that, this wine has a bit more fruit generosity and palate weight resulting in it being slightly more approachable than many young South Australian versions of the variety. Citrus and passionfruit are in clear evidence on an expressive nose. Fresh lemons and limes burst onto the palate along with some lemon sherbert. With soft but defined acidity, the wine swells with passionfruit on the mid-palate and finish. Under-ripe tropicals balance the exit along with the suggestion of spice. Yellow pear and honey suckle add further interest. It's drinking beautifully now and would work a treat with some pan fried barramundi. -JP

Allan Scott Wallops Chardonnay 2008

Allan Scott Wallops Chardonnay 2008
Bottle: $40.00 | Dozen: $432.00 | Size750ml | Alcohol Content14% | RegionMarlborough, NZ
No expense has been spared when it comes to the French Oak used on this number. It's unashamedly old school in that way, but the new world "cool climate" fruit stands out as well. Underpinning a bag of cashews, some nougat and a dollop of cream is some intense lime and peach. The massive flavours are cut with some edgy Marlborough acidity and the finish is full of spicy drive. Who said they don't make 'em like they used to? If you're looking for a big hit of Chardonnay flavour, look no further. -JP
