Radford Eden Valley Riesling 2008
There is nothing simple about this complex Eden Valley Riesling, three months extended lees contact really define this wine. It is tight and chalky across the palate with some soft fresh lime and lemon characters that sneak through to compliment the strong minerality. It will certainly benefit from careful cellaring and in time will be a great accompaniment to fresh oysters and crayfish. - SG

Radford Wines Eden Valley Bio-Dynamically Grown Riesling 2009
Yet another superb effort from Gill Radford in the Riesling stakes. The purity of this wine is off the charts! So clean, so prisitine and the finish goes on to meet the horizon. Intense citrus flavours are under-pinned by superb minerality and a slight chalkiness. Add some lovely floral notes on the nose and you're ready to go. Oysters or fish and chips would be the go now, but if you lay some down, this is a wine that will go places. Expect it to develop toasty, honeyed notes over a long life span. Top notch gear produced using care intensive biodynamic practices. -JP

Radford Wines Eden Valley Shiraz 2007
A stunning follow up to the superb 2006 release, this stylish Shiraz is yet more proof that Gill Radford is a winemaking talent on the rise. Attention to detail in both the vineyard and the winery has led to a wine that possesses quite intensity & unwavering focus. The emphasis is on black fruits flecked with regional boysenberry, along with a stony mineral quality. Polished oak has been used with great intelligence and the whole package is built around a faultless structure; lovely acidity and long fine tannins that accompany a finish that is lit up with white pepper. Given time to breathe, it only gets better. A sophisticated, textural wine that is going to develop beautifully if you manage to lay some down. -JP

Radford Eden Valley Fortified Riesling NV
Yes, it does sound strange - but don't be put off by the idea. Everyone at our tasting panel was completely taken with this unique offering from Radford. Made from the pressings from their estate Riesling, this wine was barrel fermented in old French wood before being fortified with grape spirit and matured in a solera system for a number of years. As each vintage comes, a portion of Riesling from the new vintage is blended with the older barrels to create a a non vintage wine with great complexity and multi layered interest. Candied and fresh lemon, orange rind, light marmalade and coconut with hint of a sherry like quality. The acidity is a treat and the fortifying spirit seems to help focus the wine along an impressive line. Excellent stuff, so much so that it's difficult to share! Drink by itself or with cheese or Crêpe Suzette. -JP
