Domain Barossa Ruth Miller Riesling 2009
With an alcohol reading of only 10% I did prepare myself for an acid bath when tasting this, but the Ruth Miller Riesling's proven track record should have prepared me for what I actually got. Oh, it will cellar beautifully alright. If you can keep your hands off it right now! A very expressive nose of limes, white flowers, apricot kernels and wet river pebbles, and there's no let down on the palate either. Restrained intensity, balanced natural acidity and a lingering finish of lemons and chalk dust. Oh so moreish... -JP
Domain Barossa Toddler GSM 2008
Turn your mind to a new generation of GSM from the Barossa. There are others too, but few that show such juxtaposed intensities of youthful fresh fruit and softened tannins so early in the wine's life. One other thing about this wine is that there are endless layers of fruit, all revealing themselves and showing each variety's colour in turn. Enjoy it now, it is brilliant in its youth! - SG
Domain Barossa Black Tongue Shiraz 2008
The Black Tongue, a lot like the Purple Palate, is an unfortunate stamp of the wine aficionado. Not to be confused with the Black Mark, or even the Black Sign, this characteristic is most often seen in the mouths of enthusiastic wine tasters as they wander out of a tasting. In this case, it is the result of consumption, consumption of this excellent rich dark Barossan Shiraz. With brooding savoury fruit aromatics and rich dark tannins the Black Tongue Shiraz offers us far more than its meagre price tag. - SG

A lot of "purists" and wine snobs might turn there nose up when confronted with a chocolate and herb infused liquer port. Well they're missing out on quite a tasty drop. Decadent, playful and plush with heaps of christmas cake and plum pudding flavours, put aside your preconceptions and give in to the tasty and fun pleasures of a unique and idiosyncratic wine that's appropriate for a festive occasion. - JP

Yet another brilliant wine from Todd Riethmuller, this Sticky certainly lives up to its name with concentrated candied peel and marmalade along with just the right amount of sugar and enough acid to carry the whole thing off. Still so young and fresh, I advise putting a few of these away for another day, but if you must drink one – find a good friend and toast up some brioche with foie gras and onion marmalade and really enjoy all this wine has to offer. - SG
