Yelland & Papps Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

  • Region Barossa Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14.5%
Cassis launches itself onto the front palate before a little red capsicum and a hint of soy enter the fray. Fine tannins take over the structural reins from the edgy acidity, leaving a dark fruited finish highlighted by eucalypt notes. The quality of the French oak used in this little beauty is apparent on the nose and it's worked its magic on a powerful palate too, adding a hint of chocolate and spice. The flavours and tannins would light up served alongside a leg of lamb and roasted vegetables. Some minted peas wouldn't be entirely out of place either. -JP

James Halliday, The Wine Companion
 says:

Deep colour; generous and bold cabernet fruit, with lush cassis perfectly balanced by French oak and soft tannins. A maximum result for the region and vintage.

Winestate, March/April 2010
 says:

Abudance of ripe dark fruit has been perfectly blended with some well-handled oak and supported by a soft tannic spine.
