Date Tasted
22nd February 2010
Appearance
Bright crimson red with cherry red hues.
Nose
Sweet confectionary raspberry with spearmint, green olive and sweet cherry dominate the nose with gentle varietal Cabernet along with soft oak and some underlying blackberry and chocolate. At first it seems light and pretty, and it is that, but in time it offers more and more as opens up.
Palate
Smooth and elegant with more balance than you would expect from a single varietal wine. The front palate shines with more fresh fruit before succumbing to menthol, dried red currants and spice. There is also some underlying chocolate and dry but chewy tannins that leave you wanting more. The palate is very approachable and very long – the usual Cabernet doughnut is not there, although it does soften slightly in the middle.
