Stella Bella Tempranillo 2008
- Region Margaret River, WA
- Type Red
- Size 750ml
- Alcohol 14%
Stella Bella has long been a pioneer of making wines from alternative varieties in the Margaret River. The Tempranillo is abundantly flavoursome, decidedly savoury and exotic, built around a core of stewed, black fruit, rubbery tannins and edged with sour berries. Fully (indeed, early-) ripened, it has a lush, 'fanning' palate of complexity and power. With dominant characters of dark, herbal, earthy fruit, it is richly spiced and dry-edged, with whispered aromas of fresh flower petals and a lingering, bitter finish of reduced liquorice. -NT
James Halliday
says:...the bouquet and palate share the dark cherry/berry fruit and dusty/savoury/earthy notes that continue into the aftertaste; while only medium-bodied, it has great length and palate-feel.
