Stella Bella Suckfizzle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2007

  • Region Margaret River, WA
  • Type White
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 13%
The Suckfizzle is a single-vineyard White Bordeaux blend that has held a special place in the Stella Bella folio since its inception in 1999. For the uninitiated, this is an SSB that stands well apart from the typical Australian style. Deep, savoury, profoundly textural and with potential for extended aging, it remains something of an eccentricity in this country, while consistently proving to be a darling for many critics. The 2007 has a soft, green-melon aromas, with toasted elements of brioche and almond. The palate is viscous and yet bright, with wood-licked lemon/lime sorbet and a background of fresh herbs. On the finish, pastry nuances emerge, driving the profile toward spiced stonefruit, nutty nougat and citrus tart. -NT

...exceptionally complex, with multiple layers of toasty oak and ripe fruit, yet with a magical spine of citrussy acidity that gives the wine great length. (Included in Halliday's Top 100, Weekend Australian.)
