Purple Palate

Stepping up from St Hallett's classic Faith Shiraz to the more exclusively sourced Blackwell Shiraz is a minature masterclass in site selection. Low-yeilding, older vines bring intensity to both the fragrance and palate, with darker, inkier fruit profiles, more complex spices and a silkier, firmer tannin structure. The 2009 has elements of dusty vanilla, soft liquorice and sour cranberry, bringing energy to the obviously powerful primary flavours of blackberry and plumb. A sense of elegance and restraint are the distinct hallmarks of this popular release. -Ed.
