Smallfry Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2009
- Region Barossa Valley, SA
- Type White
- Size 750ml
- Alcohol 10.5%
Only 230 cases produced... Barossa Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is seldom seen and when it does appear I always tear off the cap searching for that sweet fruit we all see from Marlborough. I don’t know why I do this. These wines (and this is a cracking example) are all about Semillon. When you put your nose to the glass the Semillon talks to you - gooseberry, lanolin and herbs along with dominant tropical guava and some fresh cut grass to follow. Textured and layered masterfully, this is a wine that creeps up on you and offers so much more than the pale appearance may suggest. Watch this one, as it will get better and better in years to come. -SG

James Halliday, the Wine Companion
says:Pale straw; a bright and zesty bouquet, then a crunchy, crisp palate with grass and citrus flavours. An unimaginable style for the Barossa even five years ago, let alone 10.
