Purple Palate

This Semillon is the new and slightly divergent addition to the rather verbose anthology of John Russell. John chose the Amegilla bee to distinguish this wine as a representation of harmony in nature. Since the mid-nineties Russell wines have brought seriously fine red wines to our kitchen tables at excellent prices. Now, I would like to suggest that both John and young winemaker Shawn Kalleske are pioneers of this emerging pedigree -Barossa Semillon. Honeysuckle and early morning dew harmonise with aromas of green grass and snowpeas to form the nose and, true to the style, the palate is like sweet honey, pineapple and a twist of lemon, without the sugar! A wine of supreme quality that inspired in me images of a deserted island. - DJ
