Radford Wines Eden Valley Shiraz 2007

  • Region Eden Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14%
A stunning follow up to the superb 2006 release, this stylish Shiraz is yet more proof that Gill Radford is a winemaking talent on the rise. Attention to detail in both the vineyard and the winery has led to a wine that possesses quite intensity & unwavering focus. The emphasis is on black fruits flecked with regional boysenberry, along with a stony mineral quality. Polished oak has been used with great intelligence and the whole package is built around a faultless structure; lovely acidity and long fine tannins that accompany a finish that is lit up with white pepper. Given time to breathe, it only gets better. A sophisticated, textural wine that is going to develop beautifully if you manage to lay some down. -JP

James Halliday, the Wine Companion
 says:

Strong purple-red; spicy peppery aromas to the bouquet are reflected in the lively medium-bodied palate, helping lift the finish, and showing none of the toughness of many '07s; excellent line and length.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh, The Big Red Wine Book
 says:

Beautiful texture. Stamps the wine with class from the outset. Flows with flavours of coal, toast, saturated blackberry and blackcurrant and cedary, sawdusty oak. Really needs time for all the components to integrate - not that there's anything wrong with it at present, it's just pretty clear that the wine will improve, given time. There's something tall, dark and handsome about this wine.
