La Reto translates to 'The Challenge' - I'm not sure if it was a challenge to make the wine but it sure wasn't a challenge to drink! I find a lot of delightful soft cherry warmth on the nose and a beautiful deep purple red liquid that simply tastes juicy, spicy and luscious - an instant thumbs up. With hints of jersey caramel, subtle spices and an overall velvety richness that is creamy and buttery, this is not your average Tempranillo style - mainly because of the lack of dryness and the immense fruit quality. It reminds me of cold dark nights reclining on luxurious velvet lounges in front of a roaring fire. Drink it now and perhaps put some lamb shanks in the oven with a long splash of this red for the sauce. - EN

Dark as midnight to look at in the glass very rich smells wafting out the glass long before it gets to the nose, including a faint hint of chocolate that often is found on Barossa Shiraz. In the mouth it's far from Shiraz it sits a little heavy to start with but non the less it's a good journey ripe fruit flavours being pulled in by the bite of tannin and acid. It's big at 14.5 and I feel could do with being down a degree on the alcohol, but it is good — 94 points and worth the money.
