says:Dark as midnight to look at in the glass very rich smells wafting out the glass long before it gets to the nose, including a faint hint of chocolate that often is found on Barossa Shiraz. In the mouth it's far from Shiraz it sits a little heavy to start with but non the less it's a good journey ripe fruit flavours being pulled in by the bite of tannin and acid. It's big at 14.5 and I feel could do with being down a degree on the alcohol, but it is good — 94 points and worth the money.
Nick Stock
says:Edgy cherry and tarry fruit aromas in this wild Barossan Spaniard, there's a wild meaty character, some fragrant lift, sweet oak and ripe cherry fruits. Sweet entry and charming middle-palate fragrance, sweet soft tannins and a core of fruit flavour running through the finish. Youthful and balanced.
Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure March 2010
says:From promising new wine enterprise Quattro Mano, this red employs the savoury Spanish variety Tempranillo, grown in the Barossa, to create a tasty red that offers cherry, prune, licorice, spice and earthy aromas, ahead of a middleweight palate of chewy texture, sustained rich flavour, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Moreish.
David Ridge, Adelaide Review February 2010
says:Here's proof positive - as if we really needed it - that Spain's leading red grape, Tempranillo, thrives in Australia...as this wine shows, it delivers generosity and more than mere hints of style and complexity. The varietal stamp is textbook, with dark plums to prune fruitiness made more distinctive and interesting by notes of licorice and earth...imagine this one when the vines have some real age...
Max Allen, Australian Gourmet Traveller March 2010
says:The secret of this dense, purple Tempranillo is the splash of Touriga and other Portuguese red grapes blended in to give it snap and backbone. Great now with hearty food, but should also cellar well. Drink with char-grilled lamb chops.
