Purple Palate

These are some of the oldest vines in Eden Valley. Low yeilding, with exceptionally high intensity, this is in many ways the quintessential Eden Shiraz; profoundly perfumed, deceptively powerful, and with infinitesimally intricate layers of detail amid creamy, leathery wood and ripe red/black berries. The 2008, slightly warmer than the previous vintage, sees these layers blossoming early, already giving off details of dark chocolate, white pepper, blackberry jam and lead. The oak plays a cedary, cologne like note with against the exotic spices, lingering on a finish of silky tannins. As ever, it is painfully scarce. -NT
