Pikes Traditionale Riesling 2009

  • Region Clare Valley, SA
  • Type White
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 12%
Year in, year out, the Traditionale from Clare’s Polish Hill River is widely regarded as one of Australia’s best value Rieslings. The 2009 was no exception, with critics like James Halliday singling it out as representing “particularly good value of money”. Aromas of peach and floral perfumes waft from the glass, leading to a mouth-filling burst of limes, peaches and nectarines. Bring on the Coffin Bay oysters, with a squirt of lime. - JL

James Halliday
 says:

Pale straw-green; a gently flowery bouquet then a very precise, pure and penetrating palate, lime, lemon and slatey mineral notes driving through to the finish.

Matthew Jukes 100 Best Australian Wines
 says:

Neil Pike has a season ticket to the 100 Best and it’s nice to see just how effortlessly his wine strolls into the line up each year. With a heavenly texture and more rhubarb and red apple notes than the lime cordial brigade, Pikes Riesling is a terrific way of getting unbelievers into the Aussie Riesling thing without shocking their palates too much. Sensuality is the watch word here and this elixir has never been so attractive than in 2009.
