Luke Lambert Syrah 2008
- Region Yarra Valley, Vic
- Type Red
- Size 750ml
- Alcohol 0%
This is one of the best shirazes I have seen in a long time. No over-extracted/over-alcoholic/over-the-top Barossa monsters here. Luke’s wines are carefully crafted using Burgundian techniques that usually are applied to Pinot Noir such as whole bunch pressing. The result is a wine with vibrancy, finesse and elegance and deliciously perfumed fruit seamlessly melded with savoury, smoked charcouterie nuances. -FW

Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
says:Initially exuberant, showing almost jubey fruit with something of the smell of cheap young wine, but settling down with considerable airing. Cherry, raspberry, cranberry, blackcurrant - a punchy melange of bright fruit with ash, pepper and gum leaf tossed into the mix. Medium bodied, very dry and ashen, the tannins firm and assertive but it’s structurally sound and long - not built for comfort though, at least as a young wine. I’m pretty sure this will build and deliver. Come back in five years.
