Colin Best is a winemaker who vinifies in constant blanace of substance and style, producing wines of length and complexity. The Leabrook Estate Pinot Gris is of a subtler style, suggesting the deeper stonefruit flavours rather than striking right at them. It retains the distinctly textural shape of quality Gris, but has a unique lightness across the palate. With minerals, pear flesh and citrus notes, it is refreshingly acidic. The finish becomes feintly creamy, with hints of delicately spiced apple tart. -NT
