Purple Palate

Quality Adelaide Hills Merlot is a relatively scarce commodity. Few winemakers have had as much success with delivering appropriate ripeness and depth as Colin Best. At Leabrook Estate, he produces a Merlot with flavours of bright red fruit characters, spice, anise and dark chocolate. It is bold and yet obviously cool-climate, with a lean structure and aromatic complexities that unfold over hours in the decanter. Characteristically smooth and utterly drinkable from release, it has the integrity and potential to age gracefully, unveiling nuances of leather, chocolate and toffee with the years. -NT
