Kabminye Schliebs Block 2005

  • Region Barossa Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14.5%
As always from the folk at Kabminye, this is a seriously interesting, albeit, thinking man’s red! Squeezed from Mataro, Carignan, Cinsaut and Black Frontignac, this truly delivers waves of character to the senses. From the back label – “Ken Schliebs is a vigneron of the old school and a state champion pruner. He is now in his seventies, and until recently hand pruned his entire 18 hectares of vines himself.” A deep dark wine in the glass, it oozes spice on the nose, and plump black fruits on the palate. A very easy wine to drink, not hindered by thick oak, allowing the purity of fruit to shine through. A fascinating array of mocha and Chinese five spice, fine tannins and very persistant finish. -DD
