Kabminye Grenache Carignan 2006

  • Region Barossa Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 15%
When handled properly, Grenache dominant blends can be lovely "BBQ" wines with refreshing acidity and spicy red fruits. The Kabminye Grenache Carignan still possesses a fair bit of character though. It's not a cerebral wine but there is still interest to be found amongst the sheer enjoyment of it all. Raspberries, glacé cherries, tar, earth and lacquer with a dash of white pepper. Light on the oak so you can slam it down fast. -JP

James Halliday
 says:

Bright, clear crimson-red; fragrant red fruit aromas and flavours, amazingly so given the wine spent 30 months in French oak, bolstered by fine, tight tannins. Screwcap.

James Halliday, The Wine Companion
 says:

Light but bright crimson; the bouquet and palate are also very fresh, with crisp red berry fruits impressive, and unexpected from Barossa Valley grenache (85%) at this age.
