John Duval Plexus Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre 2008
- Region Barossa Valley, SA
- Type Red
- Size 750ml
- Alcohol 14.5%
Created by a former Penfolds Grange chief winemaker, this is a precision exercise in blending. What makes it special is the perfect cohesion between the power of Shiraz (52%), fruit sweetness of Grenache (26%) and softness of Mourvedre (22%). Lifted red fruits are supported by vibrant plum and earthy spice on the nose, while these flavours flow through to the palate, where you’ll find soft, ripe tannins and a touch of oak. While generous and juicy, the wine has a polished elegance. One of the greatest examples of a Rhone-style blend produced in Australia in recent years. -JL

says:Purple-red; Barossa Valley blends of Shiraz/Grenache/Mourvedre seldom have the poise, conviction or richness of this wine; the flavours are multi layered yet not the least jammy, the tannins particularly good, the length all one can ask for.
