Purple Palate

Quality merlot is not a given in the Barossa, but Domain Barossa continues to back this stright varietal confidently. At relatively moderate alcohol, and vinified for brightness, its blackberry and plumb elements are fresh and lifted, laced with fresh oak. Spicy and youthful, it is suprisingly aromatic, with feint complexities of herb, cocoa and vanilla. It has savoury and sweet elements that are neatly married in expression of the bold, dark, primary fruit. -NT
