Date Tasted
22nd February 2010
Appearance
Deep red with murky Seppeltsfield hues.
Nose
Cabernet varietal tomato leaf dominates the nose with some red capsicum, blackberry, chocolate and cardamon, along with gentle bottle age and whiffs of supporting oak characters.
Palate
Fresh fruit from the day it was bottled explodes on the palate – blackberry, cherry, currants with plums and aniseed as well as more varietal Cabernet characters. The palate then slides away as it mixes with some soft dry tannins and lingers long after the final sip. This wine surprises you when you first sip it as it has such a generous concentration of fruit on the palate compared to the more austere characters on the nose, but it is very easy to love as the palate is so generous and in such contrast to the nose.

James Halliday
says:
Largely mature, with some confit fruit notes and the threat of a break in the line and structure of the palate; however, the length is still there, as is the finesse of the tannins.
