Purple Palate

Ballycroft have dialled back the alcohol in the 2007 release of the Small Berry Shiraz, but it's still in the big red wine style that has earnt them cult status. Flavours explode in the mouth. Plum jam, prunes and black curranty fruits power through in waves, handling a hefty clip of oak with ease. Sweet caramel and toffee see the wine slide down smoothly. It's all about sheer hedonism. -JP
