Tanunda Cellars

Located in the heart of the Barossa, Tanunda Cellars is the birthplace of our wine enterprise.

Housed in an 1853 heritage-listed building, the Tanunda Cellars has built a reputation as the leading retailer of Barossa wines in Australia, specialising in back-vintage classics and handcrafted gems from boutique wineries.

Purple Palate chairman Trevor Harch acquired the cellars in 1999 after falling in love with the Barossa and hopes his endeavors will enable young Barossa winemakers to find markets for their wines.  

Wine lovers and investors from all over Australia and overseas enjoy wines from Tanunda Cellars, confident in the knowledge that every wine in stock has been lovingly looked after. The Cellar manager Chris Atkins, who has run the operation for 10 years, logs each wine individually, recording accurate information about the wine’s vintage and history and then ensuring it is stored appropriately.
