Our Brisbane Wine Bar
Bar Barossa showcases everything we love about Australia's greatest wine region, from its world-famous wines to its extraordinary produce.
The earliest settlers of the Barossa planted their first vines in the 1840s and developed the land with their sweat and tears. Many of those families still thrive in the Barossa today, and we proudly represent their heritage and great traditions.
We also represent a new generation of Barossa artisans, some young and enthusiastic winemakers, others innovative chefs or artists. Bar Barossa, in Brisbane's CBD, is the place where we introduce these talented people to wine enthusiasts who appreciate the joy of discovering new wines and wineries.
While our heart may be Barossan, our Bar Barossa team, led by winemaker Sandy Godfrey, are forever discovering brilliant wines from around Australia and across the globe. To reflect this, our wine list is called Barossa & Beyond, and is divided into two separate sections. Whether it be a citrusy Eden Valley Riesling, a savoury Cotes du Rhone or a slinky Tasmanian Pinot Noir, we're sure you will find many wines to excite your palate on our list.
We also like to remind our loyal customers of a terrific saying coined by maverick wine lover Len Evans - "You have only so many bottles in your life, never drink a bad one."

Not just another lunch...
February 2, 2010
Bar Barossa hosted a brilliant lunch for Suncorp and Cricket Australia. An intimate group of 20 special guests gathered for a Barossa feast, matched to a series of Barossa gems – including Heathvale Riesling, Irvine Albarino, Izway Mates Grenache, John Duval Plexus, Loan Shiraz and Radford Shiraz. Our MC for the day was Jason McCracken from Suncorp. Jason’s New Zealand heritage prompted Sandy to include a Central Otago Pinot in the line up – so we cracked open some Craggy Range Zebra Vineyard Pinot Noir. Jason then guided the discussion as Matthew Hayden and Michael Kasprowicz answered questions and told great cricketing stories. What an excellent day!

![]() Review by QWeekendRead this review (October 2009) Review by Courier MailRead this review (August 2009) "The news is all good... the wine list is a massive tome sprinkled with little-known finds and superstar labels," wrote Lizzie Loel, of The Courier Mail. Profiled by De Groots MediaBar Barossa's superb array of wines and equally appetising food in a well-to-do setting has sprung up causing intrigue and wonder in Brisbane. One cannot help but admire the towering glass cabinets of exquisite wines; timber shelves piled mountain-high with glass bottles of Australia's (and beyond) finest. Offering more than 250 wines, with over 35 different varieties by the glass – including flutes of French champagne – this boutique establishment delivers a fine dining experience while still maintaining an inimitably warm and personal space. The enticing all-day grazing menu certainly has a lot to say with fresh local ingredients mixed with Barossa favourites – from a tasty selection of small goods like dill pickles, Barossa olives, beetroot dip and premium lavish-style Barossa bark to the more indulgent seared scallops and freshly shucked Coffin bay oysters. You know you're within wisps of wine heaven when large bunches of colourful bauble grapes cascade from the ceiling and an epic panoramic painting of Barossa's picturesque Seppelts Fields Road seemingly runs for miles across a far wall. The wine bar's focus is on variety, quality, decent prices and supporting upcoming winemakers from the rolling hills of the Barossa, while also offering a fine dining experience. The a la carte entices with homemade pasta tossed with scallops, prawns and a salmon saffron cream. The hearty mains include grilled Atlantic salmon with steamed fresh seasonal greens, roasted free-range Barossa chicken breast bathed in a coriander and coconut broth or the tempting confit duck leg which dances in chef Maggie's famous quince paste and Shiraz jus. If you enjoy the elegant things in life, I think you may have found your match! Katharine Chapman, August 2009 |
